Premiere of young Abkhaz director Naur Garmeliya "Bridge" was drawing full houses in Sukhum. Crowded hall of Russian Drama Theatre, the people, standing in the aisles, a huge number of young people in the audience. The excitement was quite understandable, because even before the premiere, it became known – the film  of Abkhaz student, learning at the directing department in St. Petersburg, represented Russia at the international festival of film debuts "Spirit of Fire" in Khanty-Mansiysk and won there the third prize "Bronze taiga".

And the movie began with the usual job for a student of the faculty of Directing – remove a short film without a word. The shooting took place in Naur Garmeliya`s native village – Gup as well as in the city Tkuarchal and its surroundings. In the film instead of professional actors were shot villagers of director, and one of the main roles played his father. No decoration was invented and made special, it's all are real places, houses, buildings, river, which is familiar to Nauru since his childhood, perhaps for this reason in the frame everything looks really organically and wonderfully.

In the film, the father and son after the death of his mother left alone and live a simple and uncomplicated life in the village. They work on the land, bred cattle and make cheese and sell it on the market. It is difficult for father to raise his son alone, and his health is not very strong. It is not easy for the son too - the little boy falls rather quickly to become an adult. His life is divided by bridge, on one side are his father, his home, quiet beautiful village, and on the other - a city, crushed by the war, people, who are indifferent to the fate of a stranger, rudeness and cruelty.

The film, which was nearly an hour, touched everyone in the room, and at its end even caused tears in the most sensitive of the spectators. Many people noted the skill of the young director, who has managed without a word to express the life of Abkhazia, Abkhaz character, all the difficulties of post-war life of the Abkhaz.

Reasonableness and allegorical of each frame, hymns as musical design, bright and surprisingly natural play of the main character, beautiful views of the Abkhaz village against the backdrop of the devastation left by the war. Everything in the film "Bridge" together created a great feeling of completeness of thought, but not the story. After all, at the end of the film, in spite of all the efforts of the boy, his father dies. But this does not mean that dies child`s willpower. He remains alone, but strong.

It seems that the director thus gives promise to his peers, those in whose hands is the future of Abkhazia - always have to fight and have to survive, this is the meaning.

Film of Naur Garmeliya - it is not the first movie, telling about the events of postwar period in Abkhazia, the subject young filmmakers are raised more often, and the thought is deeper and more interesting with each new time.

"The Bridge" was shot at Lenfilm studio, and another year the film will be considered a "festival" and, accordingly, will not be available to a wide audience, and no matter whether this picture is rewarded with any awards, according to Naur Garmeliya`s words, the main aim has been achieved - movie was understood and accepted in his homeland, in Abkhazia. By the way, the young director is sure that in the Abkhazia can be removed many interesting stories, in an interview, he said that "we have an excellent base for shooting a movie, and it would be a revival of Italian neo-realism."
